Yeah, other musicians suck too. Especially the ones in your band. Always wanting to add a sick guitar solo, or a sitar to every track. Come on!

Thanks, all, for the thoughts on the phone. I picked up a case that should protect it pretty well without adding much bulk. It has some sort of nifty technology that's soft normally but gets hard on impact. I think it's called a bonar case or something. It also has a lip that surrounds the screen, so that should help if I end up putting it down face down. I'm pretty strongly leaning against any screen film, though. I mean, it has special glass, and I wouldn't want to lose any touch sensitivity or image quality. What's the point of protecting the screen if I'm just going to put a protector on that compromises it in the first place?

I'm also a lot more worried about dropping it than I am about scratching the face, hence the case.

It's funny how strong people's opinions are on the whole thing. I posed pretty much the same question on Facebook, and the responses were almost all either "no, screen protectors are dumb, your phone is designed not to need them" or "absolutely, only fascists and communists don't use them." There was almost no one who said "eh, I can take or leave it."

Bonar case that is normally soft but gets hard on impact, cereal? :rotflmao:

The screen film I use doesn't effect touch sensitivity at all and when new you can't even tell that it's on but when it gets oldish it kind of peels up a bit at the corners so it doesn't look great. (I replace it) Either way I could take it or leave it. ... whaaa no it's true.

It's not actually a bonar case, though that would be cool. It's made of this stuff. Apparently it somehow turns rigid when there's an impact, but it immediately goes back soft afterward. It's been the best-reviewed case I've seen for the S II, at least for my carrier.

Fang, I've thought about using that InvisibleShield stuff, because I've heard it's the best, but dissatisfaction of the type Douglas described seems to be a recurring theme among a lot of people. It is interesting that you could take it or leave it. I think you're the first person not to have much of an opinion on it.

One thing I have noticed is that all of the people who've said they don't use one have specifically said it has never been a problem WRT scratching, which is the reason I'm considering it.
