no worries. they have a mocassin construction, same as a boat shoe, so the welt is not visible from the outside.

Was in an office with 2 higher ups today and they were making jokes about promoting me...but in the kind of way that sounds like it is actually in the works. I wasn't really sure how to respond.

I mean, its incredibly rare for it to happen this early--I got promoted to my current position at promotion time last year and that was after only a little over a year at the bottom of the totem pole and the jump between my position and the next one is pretty big (people sometimes get promoted up, but anyone hired from outside the company will have a masters or a phd)--but I have also been killing it this year. There have also been plenty of comments about putting me on budget-sensitive cases since my billing rate is low compared to my work output.

on one hand, I would sort of prefer another year where I am. There are some types of cases cases I'd want to get more exposure to before moving up for fear of getting pigeon holed into one type of work or one person's team and I would miss being paid overtime (even though it should end up being more in total....I like that when I bust out a hard week or two, I see a big number in my next paycheck).

But still, it would be super awesome for me and for my career development. I won't be bothered if it doesn't happen until next year....but it would be pretty sick.

Thank you and thank you to Jon, who wrote me on FB. I have vented a bit on SF, so proud to say here that I am very happy to be embarking on a new chapter in my professional life. I will be in Houston, TX at a client site 5 days a week for the foreseeable future (though I will still be based out of Boston, MA) so I would be happy to get in touch with any Houston SFers. It's been a long, tough, stressful time finding a new position, but I am really thrilled to be headed on the path I am on now.
