back in college, I was having dinner with Bill Nye and he "marinated" a graham cracker in liquid nitro and had us eat it for a sweet dragon breathing effect.

Things I didn't do in college, vol. 1: have dinner with Bill Nye the Science Guy. :(

But I did pick up a basic French cookery book recently that is rather helpful (albeit it in Japanese and absolutely straight to business, no glamour shots), it seems to be very classical and has more than a few of the recipes that matt has posted (via his Robuchon-esque interpretations) in WDYELNFD, including the tomato and crab mille feuille in tomato coulis with the chlorophyll dots, the mushroom potage with cappuccino foam, the uni custard, etc.

I also had lunch with him a few days after that and we (plus a few other students) decided to whip a frisbee around outside for a bit. Dude was incredible with the frisbee, he was whipping it through the legs, behind the back, and all this crazy stuff. Mind was blown.

marshmallows also worked with the nitro, but IMO graham crackers were the best. Caution is suggested, just insert into mouth and exhale to enjoy the dragon.

Just finished my sake sommelier level 1 course and exam.

Ate at Pierre Gagnierre's Twist. For Free. And some $1000 champagne. For Free. 3 of us from my company were kicking it with the

Some great cocktails at the Cosmo and other bars as well. Finished off the trip with Meade at curbside drop off and Jameson shots and Bud Light, literally at the airport. 3 of us from my company were kicking it with the head of the corporate mixology and spirits education for the countries largest distributor, he also does spirits for all high end accounts in Vegas.
