This is exactly what I want to avoid in the end stage of my career. Average tenureship in my arena is 18-36 months and I was a legend at the 10 year mark. I'm hoping I feel differently six months from now but at this moment I'm wondering if I just made a huge mistake.
Have you heard about FIRE?

I was employed by 13 different contractors in 1983. With 12-1300 members and only @ 100-150 capable or willing to run work the club was pretty small so you got to be a legend no matter where you went.

I did hear you were legendary about taking on those 100-150, yes

Some asshole lifted my wife’s wallet from her purse while she was shopping today. $300 cash and within an hour they hit Nike, Zara, and Macy’s to the tune of $600 before the cards were cancelled. They also had a cheque made out to her for $1500.

Assholes.

My mom sent me a really angry email about how apparently the relationship with my dad's sister is now "broken beyond repair."

She apparently stole some stuff my parents had set aside at my dad's other sister's house. I don't know what it was or anything like that but first aunt does have a....strong personality...and I think this is not the first time she's done something like this so whatever.

But it's bothering me because my mom does have a very long string of ruined relationships with family members (I think she tries to help too much and is also unwilling to i don't ******* know, I don't think it's necessarily like trying to be divisive just more giving unsolicited help and then being stubborn). And she was like "this is part of your power of attorney responsibilities.

To which I responded: well then you need to fill out the forms this week. (I've been asking them to do it since the summer).

Now we get to the crux: anyone who has read this post has now done more and more serious retirement/end-of-life planning than both my parents combined.

Yeah, I was working last night too. On top of it, I have 8am meetings every day this week which means 11-12 hour days all week. What a week before vacation. I might not come back.

Germany and Czech Republic
Dodged a bullet no internet in my homeland (Slovakia) or Liechtenstein.

You'll be in Prague for prime tredelnik season. I also really like the roast pork you can get in the main square of prague, too.

The museum of communism highlights the absurdity of USSR/Iron Curtain life and is a really well done museum. Go to the Church of Our Lady Victorious for me to say hi to the divine infant.

I don't know how much you like classical music but there's tons of concerts everywhere and you'll have plenty of chamber groups playing a lot of staples, the Four Seasons etc but they sprinkle in a bit of Smetana and other Czech composers. It's cheap and quick and a good cultural outing irregardless.

Petrin Hill is nice to walk around at sunset and being there at night and is really really cool.

Make sure you know how to eat weisswurst since, I'm guessing doing a Germany-Czech trip you'll be in Bavaria. I forget most of my time in Munich what was good and whatnot but it was another very nice city.
