Wasn’t it established in SF lore that <$350k are smalltimers?

That was three-fiddy income. No less than a million in holdings, of which a cool half must be liquid, is required to rise above plebe status.

You need to make $514,694 to be in the top 1% in California. The average annual income across that top 1% is $1,693,094. (Source: Economic Policy Institute, as of July 2018)

The average income in Japan is $2,000 a month.
I make $2,500+. Mrs Vader works bulk overtime, and makes up to $3,900.
(before our bonuses)
With our combined income. And absurdly cheap rent. We are firmly in the upper middle class.

If I pay for all my retirement hoarding. And start Saving seriously, to save $200k from 40-60, it would mean saving almost half my money. Indefinitely.

It's actually a lot of money here.

If you saved 200k in one year it would take a year to save 200k.

There was a time in the early ‘90s where most of the worlds wealth was in Japan. Then inflation happened along with a stagnant economy.

LOL. You’re forgetting the six Jewish bankers under Mt. Rushmore. They control all the world’s funds.

Inflation in Japan? Broseph, Japan's had deflation probably 50% of the time in the last 20 years.

Most recent national baller-evaluation data from the horse's mouth. (IRS)

Number of returns unfortunately doesn't track perfectly but gives at least a rough indication of how many strangers to hate.

Got really confused there until I realized those were averages for the stated group, not threshold amounts.

Those values also include cap gains so a lot of those individuals only hit the top 0.001% one time in the year of a liquidity event. Of course they then end up in the 0.1 or 0.01% forever. Obviously a number of them are hitting it every year so would be interesting to know how much turnover there is.

If I ever hit the 0.001% it would just be the one time because I would be riding down the brontosaurus’s tail to retirement faster than Fred Flintstone on a Friday.
