So we're having dinner and my mother in law is, for some unknown reason, telling us about how her mother once saw a Bigfoot when she was a kid, "because they were beside Russia"
My wife said, "I thought your mother grew up in Japan?"
"She did."
"Japan is all islands."
"No it's not. It's connected to Russia, on the other side of the islands. Like Alaska."
"Alaska's not connected to Russia either."
"No! It's connected to Washington."
"No it isn't, Canada is between them."
"Well then, how do people drive there?"
"Because Canada has roads?"
"No, they're connected!"
"We have a map, I'll show you."
*they walk over to the map*
MIL: "That map is wrong."

This is when I left the room.

She really isn't, which is why she gets into arguments like this. Every conversation with her mother is confusing as ****.

And we never did find out the end to the Russian Bigfoot story...

Earlier this week I made a trip to the local pharmacy/drug store. It used to be a homey (not h0m0, homey) place with a lot of local character ... but it was recently "improved" via a renovation to give it that "anywhere USA" look. But I digress.

Even with everything in a new and different location, I found my supplements. BUT ... my favorite probiotic no longer comes in a bottle of 180. It now comes in a box with individually wrapped packets ... but only 32 rather than 180 ... and for a slightly greater cost. Were I to have bought them, I would have paid 5.6 x what I paid previously. Fortunately I found them online and in the same quantity ... and for about what I used to pay.

After churning and cycling out multiple childrens, Melville has accurately described my feelings about having to clean their former habitats.

He piled upon the [children's messes] the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart's shell upon it.

The holidays (in general): Someone is always hungry and something always needs to be cleaned.

This holiday (in particular): Oh, and everyone is sick too.
