I had to submit a motion on behalf of my employer in a dumb small claims case this morning. A super dismissive woman in the ******* help center told me I didn’t have a number and to come back tomorrow. After swallowing the urge to karen, I called in to their call center and was told that I just needed to go to a different floor. So, between waiting around inside and then on hold, instead of a ten-minute wait, I was there for almost two hours.

I just don’t understand people like her who just don’t give a f*ck about how their work affects the customers/citizens. Even at my most disgruntled, I’ve still never gone out of my way to f*ck people over.

This is the sort of thing that turns people into Republicans…

j/k, I’m not a monster

I had to go renew our DBAs a few years ago. Only office in LA is down by the airport and far from us.

Total of 3 hours in traffic there and back so I could pay the government money to park so I could be forced to wait in a waiting room where we're no other clients. All empty seats, 5 women at counters on their phones. They made me wait 25 mins, then took my forms, I waited 25 more as they processed a 1 page form. Was honestly a huge piss off.

Government workers are by and large terrible.

I saw the extremes through this process. The woman who helped me on the phone last week was nice helpful, as was the clerk at the counter today. The woman in the help center and the other clerk at the counter were terrible. I overheard her “helping”’ the woman in line behind me, and she was aggressively unhelpful. I ended up pulling the lady aside after and giving her the number of the call center so she could get help filling out her forms.

I find government workers to be pretty consistent with other service sector workers in terms of friendliness and helpfulness, but since our interactions with them are largely non-optional I think the bad ones really get under the skin.

My biggest complaint is that all of it could be done online, so it’s doubly frustrating.

I will make a caveat. The people who work for CA DCSS are some of the most efficient people I've seen.

A lot of my warehouse guys are under child support orders, and their exes will bilk them for as much as possible. From a company standpoint, we have to do whatever the latest state paperwork tells us to do, but DCSS crew are really good getting cancel orders via email etc. Very good department.

Contrast that to city inspectors and permit workers who are basically petty tyrants who should all burn in hell.

Are you sure you can be assistant manager at Waffle House without a conflict of interest?

It would be a promotion from "bathroom attendant" but a true leader always does what is needed and helps out where they can

He's mainly worried that his "package" won't be up to the "offer".
