Wife is getting over some health issues that have required me to take over all the house work. She is micromanaging the ever living **** out of me and treating me like a total idiot ?

what makes me the most jibbeldy is I truly am a total idiot so I need to be micromanaged. But I still hate it!!

Well my share of the household tasks are the more oafish ones, for the obvious reason. But now I have to stand in for the more skilled labor as well...(like sorting groceries)

I always lament the loss of any culture. Where I live there was a cotton mill and it shut down in 78. Surrounding it was the typical mill worker enclave. It, uh, devolved rather quickly when the mill shut down but there's only maybe two old-time families still around. It's not a super significant loss in the grand scheme of things but a certain type of southern, urban culture is now all but gone.

Losing the linchpin of millions of people for forces beyond inexorable economic changes is heartbreaking not just "it'd be nice to have around."

My family was full of textile workers; literally dozens of aunts, uncles, and other relatives worked in everything from growing and picking cotton all the way through sewing garments. My dad had a couple of patents for air filtration systems in cotton mills. All that said, it's a **** industry that is terrible for almost everyone involved in it below the investor level. I have a hard time mourning its decline.

I'm not really worried about the industry's decline. It's the culture of the workers and community that sprouted up alongside it that is irreplaceable.

I have a friend who has lupus and she texted me all worried about getting a vaccine if there's "no research on it's impact with lupus". I told her briefly what I had heard from actual experts over the summer when I was working with them--basically not to worry about the vaccine generally. I also said any healthcare decisions should come from your PCP.

Well she said she got a "convincing email" and you can guess how she sounded with her vaccine worries. I also forwarded her NIH links to a few papers and **** on the vaccine and lupus I found on Google. She completed two years of a four-year nursing degree (with high grades FWIW) but that was about 15 years ago. That was, of course, enough to understand and dismiss all the research.

Anyway she was out to eat last night with four unmasked friends.
