Gmail will pull up a long ago deleted email with a vague reference to what I am searching for but cannot find an email about a lunchbox I sent to my wife last week.

I have my actual name @ gmail (although I don't really use that account) because my accounts date back to when it first started and you needed an invitation just to open one.

1000 MEGAbytes!

My wife does use her actual name @ gmail, but it is kind of a pain ********** because idiots who have her name keep trying to register for things (or apply to college) using her email address.

My wife and I both have our names @gmail.com. I haven't had any problems like you describe, but my wife did have someone accidentally use gmail.com rather than gmail.de because she gets promotion emails in German from a company.

Maybe that's it...mine mostly gets danish and german junk. Some kid managed to make a facebook account and people have either made or attempted to make spotify, linkedin, instagram, etc. accounts. I have no idea how they make it past the "please confirm your email" hurdle, but they somehow do.

Used to be that if you controlled the email, you could probably get in and **** with their account/delete it. But now with 2 factor auth and stuff, you can't even do that.

It only translates into an email or two a day, but in my wife's case, you end up in situations where websites won't allow you to sign up because someone has already tried to make an account using your email.

How do people screw this stuff up? It is not like John.smith@gmail where someone is just trying to put in a fake name. It seems like these are real people who just don't know their own damn email.

Trying to get Apple to do something about the email that is linked to some guy's account.

The live chat couldn't figure it out. The Indian phone guy's proposed solution after conferring with his supervisor is "move the emails to spam"

wtf? Also, everytime this guy orders, I get an order saying what he bought, giving me his billing address and last 4 of his mastercard.

Considering that half of his purchases seem to be for VPN services, I'm sure he would just love to know that Apple's solution to the problem is "just keep sending the emails to the wron gperson"

edit: OK, got a supervisor of a supervisor who seems to be in 'murica and showed appropriate concern at the fact that I am getting someone else's billing information.

I had a college kid with my name regularly sending his own essays to my account at some point.

And somehow I got on a church's mailing list despite multiple times telling them I'm not the person they're looking for. (I think it was the same kid.) Finally just filtered them to go to trash.

I regret not grabbing my name on Instagram when it first started. I have it on Twitter & Facebook, and I squat the .com. (Eventually I need to make a new website.)

I have someone with my last name and same first initial continuously subscribing to job opening and recruiter newsletters. I take perverse delight in unsubscribing her as quickly as humanly possible. I like to think that she’s grown extremely despondent over the years that she’s getting no hits on her job search

Nope, nobody can figure it out.

Took an hour and 15 minutes on the phone after the live chat had them call me...just to get a promise to call me back in 2 days after they pass it on to their "expert team"

Lost count of the number of times they escalated me to someone else.

Isn't this the kind of **** that the GDPR was supposed to make companies take seriously? Once I have alerted them to the fact that they have the wrong contact information (of an EU resident)...isn't it bad for them to keep sending me his billing information?

Maybe I will just buy an international stamp and send him a letter. "Here dude, I thought you might want your purchase confirmation for your subscription to Flightradar24"

Even though I'm a solid generation to generation-and-a-half past the Dodgers moving from Brooklyn, I'm still pissed those traitorous ***** won the World Series.

**** Robert Moses.
