So my career and whatnot has two specific semi specialized organizations i could end up in. One of them had an opening that was looking for my specialized skillset. I know the ceo and hiring manager for the gig and had someone give a recommendation for me to the recruiter. Didn't get past the initial call with the recruiter.

And for whatever reason my mai tais have been a bit too wan tonight.

Unsure which is worse.

Can you go back to the hiring manager for feedback?

"Hi Mike, I didn't think my interview with Bob went well and was really disappointed, because I would love to work with you. Still feel like I'd be a good fit for the organization and want to learn how to make a better case for myself, as I know I have the skills you're looking for."

This sometimes gets you another look and, at worst, usually some free coaching.
