It is a weird thing that living beyond one's means indicates fraud. I mean I get it, but everybody has a different personal circumstance. There are people that I work with that are independently wealthy beyond what they earn from work for various reasons.

They're independently wealthy from stealing and selling company secrets.

I think there is more of a square though. The 4th rung is "stupid". There have been people who have tried to commit fraud at my company. All of the ones that I know of it involved such measly sums one could not even FIRE with. If you're gonna do it, make it at least worth it!

Three hours of intensive dentistry this morning to try and save broken tooth. 1/10, cannot recommend. Things appear to have come on a bit in the field since I last needed any work -- instead of going straight to a root canal, they opened it up and injected a bunch of stem cells into the pulp to try and stimulate self-repair, then glued (probably not the right term) it back together and said hope for the best. It was reassuringly expensive, at least. Because of where I live, they "don't prescribe narcotics" but gave me some arnica and conservative business dress oil, which I threw away. Wine is taking the edge off.

No sage to burn or crystals to center your chakras?

What kind of quack dentist do you go to?

Think it's more that Cali thing where high tech kinda naturally interacts with high crunch. Like, we use a hard tissue laser instead of a physical drill, but have you also considered the manifest benefits of homeopathy? In their defense, it does feel surprisingly solid already, although that could be the second bottle of wine talking.

I have a stressful work situation. This guy that I have worked with for many years who works in another department got promoted. His old job went up on the internal job posting site. He sent out an email to different folks at his new level encouraging them to forward the posting to anybody they think would be good for the role. My current boss' boss and my old boss's boss sent the posting to me and told me they recommended me. To be honest, I wasn't thinking of applying to it. It would be a promotion, but my skill set is a tad different. Feeling good and motivated by having people reach out to me over it I applied. Well, sure enough my good friend at work also got the same encouragement from the same people as I. Now, I am like, well ****, they are just telling everybody to apply to the damn thing. This sucks. The positive encouragement from my uppers had me feeling good and now I applied for a job I was originally ho-hum about. Welp, I have an interview Monday. This is the first interview I have no idea how to prepare for. The skill set is different, however my group does a lot of analytical work for them as kind of internal consultants, but there is a whole other side that I'm not too privy to. On one hand I don't care if I don't get the gig because I like my group, on the other it would be a roughly $30k raise. Do I call into this interview blasé, or do I stress out and try to "study"?
