My big bugaboo is changing planes/layovers.
It's non-stop or nothing for me.

In general, if I am traveling by myself, while I prefer non-stop, I don't really care about changing planes or having layovers.

If I am traveling with my kids the airlines could probably charge me an extra $2,500/ticket for even the shortest of flights and I'd still pay it to avoid a layover. It would probably be cheaper than whatever food and candy my kids would demand I buy for them during even a 10 minute layover in the most crowded of airports.

Yep... Now that my kids are 14 and 8 and a lot less work than when they 6 or 7 and an infant/toddler, my wife has occasionally asked if I'm going to start traveling for work a lot more again. Incidentally, she only ever asks about my travel schedule after I've been working from home for an entire week or two non-stop! 😆
She needs you out of the house so the mailman or poolboy can visit.

I have never had to travel for business and so I still enjoy travel very much. We are getting on a plane on Sunday and flying to Amsterdam. From there we have almost no itinerary other than a few cities we'd like to visit, but the whole goal is to be able to take as much time as we'd like if we find a place we think is charming. We have about two and a half weeks to traipse around before flying home.

Sounds like heaven to me, but my wife HAS to know what we're going to be doing. That contributes to my dislike of travel; I hate the planning process. I'd rather give someone a destination and a budget and then just show up for my flight.

Been battling this annoying cough for just under a week. No other I traveled a lot in my old accounting consulting days. That life sucked. It was nice having all the airline and hotel upgrades but I'd rather have my life and health.
This. I had a long stretch where I was on the road 4 days out of 5. I even had a 2nd apartment in LA for a few years. It sucked.

I used to travel quite a bit for work and enjoyed almost all of it - the only thing I didn't like was the process of parking and traveling between whatever parking area to/from the terminal... for some reason I loathe that process. If I had to travel for work a bunch now, I'd be Ubering to the airport as maybe that would make it a bit more palatable.

Yeah, it is so miserable.

Usually I have to park at the green dot and walk all of the way to the red dot. But last time I had to park in the area by the motherfucking blue dot!

I always liked flying through Burbank, when it worked. Car rental drop was like 50’ from the front door.

I've steadily grown to dislike the flying part of travel, primarily because we're on a Southwest jet 99% of the time, and I'm tired of getting wedged into a plane that's completely full and 20 minutes behind schedule.

Yes, I'm a pleb that flies in a bus with wings. Actually, I shouldn't denigrate buses like that. I took one from Houston to San Antonio last year (this one) and it was lovely.

Long Beach rules...
Truth. I especially love that you can wait for your plane in an outdoor area.

Sadly, JetBlue stopped flying the SFO - LB route so we’ve switched to Santa Ana.

Yup, LGB losing Jet Blue was a bummer. I think Southwest took over all their gates - they do like 80% of LGB's flights now

I'm a short Uber away from John Wayne, and my business bank is right around the corner.
It used to be much better. All of that super close underground parking has sat there closed off since 911.

I like to fly in/out of the Flint, MI airport when I can. It takes a few minutes longer to drive there than it does to the Detroit airport but the parking is so close that usually when I'm standing inside at the baggage carousel I can literally turn around and look out the windows and see my car!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
