Neil was friends/mentor with so many. From Danny Carey to Dave Grohl to Mike Portnoy...his legacy is undeniable.

He was also painfully shy. Some of his lyrics were very explicit about this, particularly Limelight.

Cast in this unlikely role, ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers to keep oneself intact

Or Losing It.

The writer stare with glassy eyes
Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage
Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision
And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more

He was forever concerned of just phoning it in, performing less than excellently. I'm not into fan worship but he truly was an exceptional talent. Very pleased we went to their last tour.

Oh I know. The clip I posted above.. the story from Chad was during the tributes to Buddy Rich. One of Neil's most famous gaffs was the first tribute concert for Buddy Rich. He was so devastated at his performance that he organized another concert and produced 2 of the greatest compilation cds (ha, old school) of jazz drummer music. I think I still have the dvd of the making of the cds. Lots of great stories from Neil on there.

Anybody heard from @NakedYoga recently?
Have people talked about this? He killed the wife and younger son, right? I suspected as much from the start, but when he 'survived' a pointblank shot to the head on an empty country road while 'fixing a flat' that pretty much confirmed it. Then it turns out he's been stealing from his firm and addicted to opioids. THEN he comes clean and says he hired a former client to 'kill him so his son could collect on a life insurance policy, but somehow miraculously survived the head shot (luckily was just a superficial wound!). I mean, come on....

I don't think he killed his wife and son, or was involved with it. There are a lot of rumors and whispers around the S.C. legal community that haven't made their way to the national news yet. A lot of very bizarre stuff has happened with Murdaugh and his family, especially recently, but I really don't think he was involved with his son and wife's murders, although I do think they are related to the Mallory Beach case. There really can't be any reasonable doubt, to me at least, that the murders of his wife and son were premeditated. They were out on a 1,000+ acre plantation/hunting property in a very rural area, near the dog kennels. That isn't exactly the type of place where someone commits a crime of opportunity. And you also have to know that particular area--it's very insular.

It's going to be one hell of a Dateline episode.

No doubt about that. There's already been an ongoing podcast and a subreddit dedicated to it.

On the date of the botched "assisted suicide", a few hours before everything hit the news I heard from someone that he had shot himself because "the police were closing in on him", and then the actual public reports were that it was an attempted murder. A bizarre situation all around.

free shipping ******.
Also, I've complained before, but Amazon seems to have used covid as an excuse to gut amazon prime. At the start of covid they said they were going to prioritize essential items...and slowly all mention of 2-day shipping has disappeared.

In Chicago, where they had warehouses, I'd frequently get stuff in 1 day (sometimes even same day) delivered by amazon workers. So it was all fine.

But out here, my standard "Prime" shipping seems to be 1 week. Here's a random search for "usb cable":

Wtf am I paying for? I'd rather not shop at Walmart, but they will do free shipping on a ton of items, many with actual 2 day delivery.

Shoprunner is still around too (get it free from Amex) and they do free 2-day shipping from their stores.

I'm extra pissed because when I made the decision to move out here, still being able to get stuff in 2 days was a selling point--I may have limited local retail, but who cares when you can get everything 2 days later.

And its not like this is covid-related handling delays. They are straight up putting items on the slow boat and shipping standard UPS-ground. Even if they get it out of the warehouse day of order, unlikely to get it in 2 days.
