I think all the extra money I make in my so-called career is basically squandered trying to fill the voids that my career leaves me. I'm bitching for sure, and no career is perfect, but I feel no challenge at this point, other than the mental aspect of getting through the months. Then I get home, and i don't even have the life I want on land, and that usually leads to a booze fest until I'm called back to work, which is essentially seahab at that point.

It is of no wonder why my superiors...I never want to be them. It seems the same for most out there. Everyone is miserable, and eventually it becomes a job that is neccessary to sustain a fucked up life that has been brought on my the solitude and bad decisions the job lends.

So not only did we lose bad last night i came home let my dog out and he runs right to a possum. He wouldn't respond to treats or his leash gor about two minutes. Thankfully nothing happened but i wasn't sure how close to get at the risk of ending the game of possum.

This morning he wakes me up because he has to puke.

Its been a fun 7 hours with him that's for sure.

I'm so lonely. Cut my paycheck I dont care.
Thank god for StyFo, amirite?

Kidding aside, it sounds like this career could be deadly for you long term, and I mean that quite literally. Think hard about the things you need to have in your life (experiences, relationships, knowledge, etc) in order for it to feel rich and full of meaning, then make some decisions about what you are willing/able to do to achieve those things.

my cat had been barfing for 2 days. 430 this am i got up to throw a piss and he's going crazy asking for food. they usually get fed right around then so i go with it but my last thought before hitting snooze is i hope he's ok (and no mess). then when i got up for real at 7 everything was cool, apparently wife re-fed them but they were satisfied and asleep. small wins.

I updated my LinkedIn just now. Fuck. Fifteen years gone by and now I'm the FNG and honestly not sure how this is all going to work out.

Solidarity brother. I’m just finding my groove now exactly 3 months in. I wanted to quit like 100 times already.

I moved from FNG to Project manager and hit all the stops in between dozens maybe even hundreds of times in my 30 years. I spent my last day working in a ditch welding steam pipe at Stanford. I fuckin' loved it.

This is exactly what I want to avoid in the end stage of my career. Average tenureship in my arena is 18-36 months and I was a legend at the 10 year mark. I'm hoping I feel differently six months from now but at this moment I'm wondering if I just made a huge mistake.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
