Why does it take so long to get off the phone with a call center once the reason for the call is settled?

The overly nice exit spiel is irritating. I want to hang up, and here comes the lengthy thank you. Just say "great, glad I could help."

I have been at an academic conference the last few days. Seems like everyone there who's younger than me got strange ways of pronouncing vowels just gets me to like "wha?" For example, they all pronounce "a" like the "a" in "father," so "animal" is "ahnimal" and suchlike. Also, the "oo" sound is pronounced like the German ü, so "movement" is like "müvement."

For whatever reason, I strongly dislike those pronunciations. (And yes, I am aware that others probably dislike my pronunciations but tough luck they can join Styleforum if they want to argue with me about it.)

Also, while I am glad for L’Inc dat dose Rams were winning during the part of the game I watched, as someone who grew up rooting for the Los Angeles Rams when they were the Los Angeles Rams (not of Anaheim) before they were the St. Louis Rams and sometimes specifically rooted for dose Los Angeles Rams against the St. Louis Cardinals (not of Anaheim) before they were the Arizona Cardinals, today’s game is hella confusing.
