I didn't say that there aren't good meals, just to never expect one. I'd be down for some duck breast.

We had some nice NY Strips for my wedding. It was ok, but the 25 yo whisky in my flask was much better.

at my wedding, the hors d'oeuvres were legit good. and then the entrees were terrible. felt bad for the guests but at least it was an open bar.

More people should just have wedding receptions at restaurants.

i went to a wedding in MN that had insanely good food. one of the best steaks i've ever eaten, it had like a blue cheese aioli or something and was ridiculously tasty. whenever i see that couple i remember that steak lol.

People with friends problems. Survived my 20s only having to go to two weddings. Wait... I'm 30 now... now I'm hibbeldy jibbeldy.

Most people should shrink their wedding to fit in a restaurant. I was talking to a friend of a friend who is getting married soon, and he said he was having a "not large" wedding and they invited more than 300 people.

You guys just have friends with no taste, or no means/willingness to spend money.

There's no reason why wedding planners and caterers can't serve a good meal, or avoid shit shows at the bar. If you have a wedding planner these are the absolute basics for that person to take care of

We've hit on the problem, which is that couples invite way too many people, so they have to spend less per head. Which means dry chicken and cheap booze.

I don't think I've been to a wedding as an adult with remarkably bad food.

Bad drinks, yes. Bad food... Not memorably at least.

And I don't really know who to blame for the bad drinks... Because it certainly wasn't for lack of throwing money at the bar.

    Guilty.

My FIL spent a small fortune on our wedding. I was impressed. However, the gifts we received were rather unimpressive. But that is a whole other story.
