I didn't pull the trigger on the vintage tux I wanted, and someone else bought it. I'm hoping it was my wife, but that isn't likely.

Recently I was criticized on a performance review because I hadn't done a certain activity that is viewed as "indicative of effort." You want to know what is indicative of effort? Good results. No one could even halfway reasonably challenge the quality of my work (as measured by all the standard measures). If I am producing good results, why the hell is my perceived effort even relevant (proof is in the pudding)?
Look on the bright side: you won't have to own used formalwear.
