I just realized something: I never, ever say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" or whatever. The closest I get is when I respond to others who say that to me. But I always say "Yeah, you too" or something like that. Moreover, I am always taken aback when people say "Merry Christmas" to me. I'm always like "Oh yeah I guess it is that time of year." Also, it doesn't occur to me that this is a time of year to be happy.

People must think I'm a very strange and unpleasant person around this time of year.

I might be strange all year round but I don't think I'm unpleasant. (I acknowledge that some superstars of Styleforum would disagree, of course.)

I have something that pisses me off (and will likely piss off Pio being in this thread). My cleaning service for my apartment sent out an email saying our rates are going up in the new year. They cited the reasons as the new NYC time-off act and the Affordable Care Act.

Why don't you clean your own apartment?

Why clean it when I can pay a woman to do it for me?

Robin, actually. She's been cleaning my place for a year, yet I have never seen her.

Landlord will be over with his fireplace guy first thing Monday morning to get it fixed.
