1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Same here. Bunch of fucking whiners if you ask me.

I didn't watch the performance of the two, but from what I read, the Russian girl had a more difficult program.

Take time out to go for a haircut sign on door announces that after 39 years they've retired.

I knew this day was coming given their age but some warning would have been appreciated.

Fuck me, "go ahead make my day"

Again, if you've chosen to dedicate your life to one of these sports with the "artistic judging" you have to expect this and hope that on the day of the competition they like you better. And maybe fuck a judge or two before.

What about those that look up at you with puppy dog eyes and explaining that they worked really hard?

As a man of medicine, you surely understand that you've got to hold the line for their own good. If the patient has puppy dog eyes and says "I am trying hard to consume less methamphetamine cut me some slack doc," you have to say "not good enough gotta quit consuming that meth or else you will perish of illness."

Do you know how hard it is to find a good barber? Good barbers are something in life that have to be cultivated. These guys both Italians were great will be sadly missed.

Wow sounds like your students were extras in Breaking Bad. Try explaining bell curves to them on how and why people get the marks they do.

Ps have done that in the past but I grew out of it. (pun intended)

That chrono is nice. I like the bicompax layout with the date at 6. Very clean design.

I went to a business event yesterday hosted by the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Though this is technically a private non-profit, its funding comes overwhelmingly from NIST and the State of Maryland.

They had an incredible office, all sleek modern furniture using whatever I assume are the latest trends in office design. One room had a bunch of bean-bag looking chairs with a TV in it. The central hub of the office was an elaborate kitchen with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and a stocked wine refrigerator. The Olympics were showing on a TV with employees gathered around watching. This place puts my office absolutely to shame.

    My tax dollars at work.

All the show offices are nice, but the ones they make us actually work in....less so.

my mother's in the hospital. it doesn't look good. I've got to fly down ASAP.

she's 76 and hypertensive kidney disease has caught up with her. blood works (CBC, HB, and blood sugar is all out of whack), before she's had acute renal failure and bounced back, but this time she might even have dengue fever (because of all the dirty stagnant water from the typhoon there's been outbreaks) on top of it. my sister is already there but I've got to call my older brother and really gather the family just in case.
