i cant really comment without seeing the ring in person, and i dont think you got taken, as in intentionally shafted, but i can share a few thoughts.

sapphires are soft, but that is no reason for them to fall out. shared prong settings can lose stones, but they can also be done right. it seems that something is wrong with the casting or the prongs if stones are constantly falling out willy nilly, and they should probably make you a new ring. this one does not sound fixable, ime it will just continue to have stones fall out over and over. : (

yes, we do do custom work.

If you want to buy a previous stone in the North Eastern states you go to in stitches. If you are accused of rape in the North Eastern states you go to me.

Thanks. I don't mean intentional shafted... more like shoddy craftsmanship (which aggravates me). You will likely have a new customer...

I also may have promised to let her get another setting (and more err... larger sapphires) on the engagement ring. haha. She is using the fact that we have to start considering the kid stuff in the next three months or so as leverage. So she can have jewelry and I get another dog.... I think that is a fair trade, right?

Friend's girlfriend killed herself on Christmas. I'm pretty worried about him, especially since they have been together for a significant amount of time, and since he is getting on up there in terms of age...65 I think.

Really hope he doesn't start drinking heavily again (this guy rages). I'm not sure there is anything I can do...I haven't even called him since I found out.

You should really call him and try to make sure he gets help if he needs it.

Received this today:"I just feel like you want something more from me than friendship and I'm not really comfortable with that". I guess that's over...I guess I'll never play those cards again, but that's how people grow up.

Back to work tomorrow, and upon reviewing my calendar, it's going to be a shitty week and about 55 hours.
