my father's car was hit by some guy that blew a red light. A bit of damage to the car, annoying, but whatever. And then comes the realization that the other driver is in the country illegally and has no license nor insurance.

So sorry to hear that, Douglas.

I only have something trivial to report today: when I meet new people, I often forget their names right away. Why is that? It is not because I have a bad memory. It is because I am focusing all my attention on the handshake. I shake hands gently (because I am not a barbarian), but I know that other people grip is tightly as they possibly can (because they are barbarians). And so in the act of shaking hands, I focus my attention on not getting my hand crushed, thereby missing the person's name. Thank goodness for the Internet, where I can look up their names.

traveling for work in NJ right now, but I have no idea where. It's an old ass car that he used for traveling and he wanted to replace in like 6-7 months anyways. Not sure if those plans have been moved up or what.

I had a much shorter one, but it consisted of getting jerked around on stuff that is not difficult to answer and should have been done by last week. People suck.

I almost never remember a person's name when I first meet them, especially during introductions. I hate the chore of perfunctory introductions ('Hi Joe, this is my friend Sally. Sally, this is Joe.' 'Nice to meet you.' 'Nice to meet you too.') so I tend to just remember the names of people I talk to or plan on talking to. Of course this becomes a problem when my expectations and plans fail and I need to address someone and can't just yell out 'Hey you!'

My search for new shoes continues to be unfruitful. Picked up a pair of AE Larchmonts for a song, in my usual AE size. But I need to go down half-a-size on this last, and of course they are sold out of that size. Sigh.
