It's a walnut Danish modern dresser. Very simple, but it's well made and has a refined form I like. I bought it used a few months ago and it had an ugly polyurethane finish and had been in a smoker's household so it had a darkish tint to it. I stripped it down entirely but the wood is fairly porous so the polyurethane was fairly deep into the wood and I had been apprehensive to sand too deep into the wood because the facings of the cabinets are veneer walnut over cedar linings. So naturally I began staining with a custom walnut/red mahogany mix and the stain wasn't being taken up in a couple areas with some of the polyurethane still remaining (I couldn't see these areas before staining), so it produced some regrettable spots. I'm now in the process of removing the stain and polyurethane more thoroughly with chemical stripper and then I'll try again. I'm going to finish it with tung oil after the staining. It's just been a major pain in the ass because there will be no less than 6 or 7 layers of application to go through after the excessive amount of time I've spent trying to prepare the wood.

    1. Pre-stain conditioner
    2. Walnut Oil Stain
    3. Red Mahogany Gel Stain
    4. Red Mahogany Gel Stain
    5. Tung Oil
    6. Tung Oil
    7. Feed- N-Wax

Eventually, it will be done. Here's a picture of the side, which turned out well:

And a picture of the thing after the poor stain, before yesterday's efforts to correct:

Fangsy, you can pretend all you want that other counties matter but you don't. The only country that matters is America. Only our standards matter. That's why our standard is standard and yours is not.

My buddy at Hopkins doesn't the semester until after the 27 and their semester doesn't end until after May, IIRC. Might just be how Baltimore works.

well, i assume you mean the christmas/new years holidays, and as they attend jewish private school, there was no such holiday break for them. their winter break is pretty much always in mid to late january each year. no year round school.
