However, I still do find it pretty ridiculous that I am losing my job over this--I've never had an infraction before, and I've really gone out on a limb to help them out in the past. I took over a week off school last semester in order to work for them, which in effect buried me in a hole that the entire semester to dig myself out of, and which had a negative effect on my grades. Further, not only do I know that my boss has had a much more 'interesting' life than myself at my age, but also other employees I work with have done stupid shit such as 3 no-call no-show's in a row and calling in sick due to hangovers. I'm not quite sure why they are trying to compound my punishment.

thanks, e. appreciate the support. I've been sneaking in a stick or two lately... but I'm still doing my best to cut it altogether. just talked to my usual drinking buddy and he agreed to avoid smoking with me next time we're out in the bar.

awww... hope they get well soon.... and in the meantime, you should check yourself in a nice hotel- just to make sure you won't get sick. :)

whoa. feel better atlas..... you got the right attitude there, brah.

so hard to be The Man... :nodding:

good for you, biscotti.... and as sappy as it sounds and it may not seem that way, but in the long term- you'll be glad you're out of an organization that you feel this way about.

Sounds like you're dealing with it well Biscotti. I truly believe that it's the lowest points in our lives that shape our personality and our future. I've hit a few low points but given the choice, I wouldn't "correct" them because each one has forced a personal growth that might have taken years or otherwise not happened at all.

Hate to tell you this but it only gets worse. Add 20 years plus job stress plus family stress and you'll never sleep again.

I see somebody hasn't been running lately.

Yo dawg I sleep like a baby, 5 hours a night.

Granted, when I say 'sleep like a baby' I really mean that I toss and turn and cry upon waking. I wish they made big-person footie pajamas. Could fix all my sleeping problems.

Ninety nine days out of 100 I sleep just fine. It's that day I let work stress seep into my unconscious that has me tossing and turning sleepless all night. On my recent break? I was sleeping a solid nine hours. It was awesome. Also helped I kept the bedroom in the mid-50s so getting out of bed was rather discouraged.

Good luck, Biscotti. One of these days you'll have to tell us what you were in for. Though I bet I can guess.

Quick update on my employee who had the head surgery - I visited him in the hospital over the weekend, and he seems to be doing pretty well. I could not discern any notable cognitive impairment, though he was a bit groggy and uncomfortable, as you would expect anyone who'd been in a hospital bed for 5 days after brain surgery would be. Appears he suffered some sort of head trauma that led to a delayed issue - he'd been suffering headaches for 2 weeks, then finally collapsed vomiting on NYE and was rushed to the hospital.

No word yet really on how long his recovery will be or what his long-term prognosis is, but I was encouraged by the progress. Really doesn't belong in TTAPYO at this point but since I made the initial post here, there it is.

In other bad health news, one of our senior execs, who missed 6 months this year due to grave heart problems exacerbated by pneumonia, and ended up with him getting a heart pump, just notified us he is going on the transplant list.

With a few other bad luck health things like his this year, after several very healthy years for us as a company, we were notified just the other day that our renewal premiums will be up fifty percent. Fifty, as in, five-zero.

I was going to ask about the Russian. Glad he's making progress, and good luck with the senior exec.

Glad to hear your employee is doing well but I have to call your bullshit out over your rate increase. My president told me he bent the cost curve down. Stop lying, Doug. We both know loss runs are things of the past.
