Maybe American systems are different, but I'm fairly sure than in the UK assaulting a member of staff is grounds for instant dismissal and possibly even criminal charges (if the victim wants to push for them)?

I cant imagine being able to get away with slapping some of the people I work with. It would make the week go so much faster!

Unlucky, its gotta be tough to keep cool with the guy knowing that it could take weeks to cut him loose.

^ nah... it's cool. I do have the authority to suspend someone that I deem a threat or a danger to the workplace. so little pacquiao here is gonna stay at home, with no pay, while we sort out this mess. and I'm not in a hurry to do so too.

    The same here.

I can't count the times I have wanted to beat the shit out of customers or co-workers.

Are there judges that are more progressive with justice? Do any judges say to kids like this, "I think what you need is a swift kick right in the ass. You keep this up you will end up a piece a shit like so many people that come before me. Hey mom and dad, beat the hell out of him and smash his iPhone!" Court adjorned!

Harvey, I could be wrong here, but a short stay in prison might be what the kid needs. If he's gotten away with things in the past, then the hard slap of Consequences might bring him around to understanding that the world Doesn't Play Around. Of course, the inverse might be true as well and the kid might be headed for worse and more of it, but it's hard to tell at this point.

And, FWIW, I'm close enough to these situations to not be blowing smoke here.

I've got to go into the office and give a critical evaluation of a colleague's performance in just a bit. I strongly prefer to mix in some positives with the negatives when I do that, but I'm having a hard time in this case. The person I"m evaluating is definitely green, and so I want to be encouraging where I can. But I also need to be honest.
