1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I understand it's pretty annoying, but what does it really change? Since it sounds like he's already ruled out the idea of giving you a heads up on it you're really only adding the possibility of an exam. There is no plus side, so I don't see the point of making a war out of it.

I never minded having exams when I was a student. They were a great way to demonstrate that I was better at the subject than the majority of my fellow students and thus be awarded superior grades.

Saw a nice apartment today. 1BR, big kitchen, fireplace, in a nice brownstone walk-up. I could swing it financially but money would be a little tighter than I'd like.

Having a roommate is frustrating for me, but in the end it's more important to save money and cut down on expenses. But living alone is cooler :(

Normally it's not individual professors who set final exam dates. And there's a good reason for that. I agree that Biscotti would be within his rights to complain if Saturday was not in fact the scheduled exam day.

Also, speaking as a professor, I would never make all my students come to class for a final exam and then just dismiss them. That is really disrespectful of the students' time, even if it's on a weekday.

I know that the final exam schedule is usually set by the university, but I also know that profs don't always adhere to it. If this is one of those cases, then he should definitely complain.

I agree with you that it's disrespectful to have students come for an exam to find that there isn't one.

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that you didn't know that. I quoted you because I was agreeing with you.

Yes, we're of the same mind about this. This situation hit one of my hot buttons because of some experiences I had with profs.

God created Mondays just as He created the other days of the week. You should rejoice on Mondays. I know I do.

Seems impossible to get past my tiredness today. Entertained guests every night for the past week and I think it has finally caught up to me.

Sometimes I shake hands with really big, strong guys and they crush my hand. As I go into the handshake, I tell myself to grip firmly and not get crushed. But I get crushed almost every time.

I remember meeting a pretty Army General's daughter (who was a good friend) for the first time. I got the heads up that he crushes your hand during the handshake - so when he went in I squeezed just as hard.

It was one of the few times I felt super manly because this huge hulking 6'3" 270lbs general actually flinched.

I'm pissed that I forgot to eat lunch and bonked around 3pm. The kind of bonk where you can't even think straight.

I keep a couple of protein bars in my briefcase for times like this. Had to resort to one today as I had no time for lunch.
