thanks gib, and yes it is. we had a really peaceful and harmonious family, with little to no real discord prior to her arrival.

i hear ya, but the party we made was not exactly a "party." it was decided on, on shabbos, when we couldnt call anyone anyway. no phone use on shabbos. and it happened sunday brunch. it consisted of homemade cup cakes, and a rendition of happy birthday. the only people there were my parents, my wifes parents, and one nephew. no siblings at all.

had the other siblings been there, i would have called my brother at some point on sunday to say sorry you couldnt make it. but since the whole thing was so small in nature, no siblings on either side were there, and he was out of town, honestly i didnt even think to mention it. not out of malice, i just never had the thought. as opposed to todays event, which was very malicious, and loaded with intent.

whatevs, the whole thing sucks ass. hopefully it will just blow over soon enough.

Stitch, best solution is to move thousands of miles away. Doesn't change people but at least they can't fuck up your daily life.

Ah. I'm so glad I'm not religious. So many bizarre rules! In this cases, I understand [esp if both your families follow this]. And yeah, this sounds like a completely absurd thing to argue about, but it's also very easily misconstrued. A "small" party when I first hear of it makes me think 10-20 people, some friends and family, etc. I'd just call what you had "having my parents over". Haha.

man I feel for you... had my share of fucking drama over the 2nd kid's 1st bday party years ago. it got really really ugly. fucked up family members' such a fucking burden hovering over you waiting to fuck you if you let your fucking guard down. fuck!

I can't stand these foodie geeks. wife's got one of these- she's like the gastronomic version of comic book guy, but with a vagina. and I learned the hard way no right minded person would find it pleasurable to dine with people like her.

fuck that bitch. with a pitchfork!

You know the difference between inlaws and outlaws?

    Outlaws are wanted.

Stitch, I hope things settle down for you on the SIL side, but I'm also going to say that everything changes in its time and you may sadly be looking at the 'new normal'

Both of my ebay auctions up today sold for less than I was expecting.

Maybe they finished a couple of hours early (I like sunday evening when everybody is sitting at home and they were sunday afternoon) but I didn't expect to be so low.
