My high school friend's mother was in a very bad car accident on Friday. Didn't know until now. They live 2 doors down and we've known the family for almost 15 years. Another friend told me the airbags didn't deploy and her legs are quite messed up. I think we're going to try a visit tomorrow, but she may not be well enough yet for that.

    Really puts things into perspective.

silly little thing pissed me off - we were at a waterpark hotel for the weekend. ordered, and paid for, a room with s fireplace. the fireplace didn't work - ok, it's one of those silly gas fireplaces, but we don't watch tv when we go to this place, we sit in front of the fireplace and play boardgames and read. anyway, I call maintanance, they come and the guy says that he knows what the problem is, and that they are out of the part that is needed to fix it. so I go to the front desk and they say that the maintanance guy said that everything was ok with the fireplace. so I get really pissed off at the front desk manager, and she hunkers down and says that they won't do anything about it, and that is that.

so, I ended up really pissed off over it, and frankly I am not nuts enough to do anything about it, but it really took away from the quality of my weekend - not the lack of fireplace, but the whole issue of being pissed off.

Write a letter to management and they'll hook you up. Hope you wrote down the names of the employees.

People offering $50 for BNIB Aldens on eBay. Are they actually serious? And I counter and they offer $80 shipped saying that is the max they can pay. Unbelievable considering this has happened 3 times today with the max offer coming at $120.

Getting lowballed is really annoying, but I've been surprised at how low some of my accepted bids on ebay have been, so I don't feel too bad offering a % of their asking price that would normally warrant the term, because about 80% of my bids have been accepted. Some people use ridiculous markups for the purpose of making people feel obligated to offer more than they otherwise would, so they should expect it. It's much worse on SF when you get lowball offers for things you're not even taking offers for, even when the price is fair, which is a whole new level of annoying.
