Might as well go nuts on the lining, it will be hidden anyway.

Jason-

I dunno if this has been covered in this monstrous thread, or if you've addressed it elsewhere, but does TaT have a policy on customer-supplied-fabrics? I recently learned something pretty awesome: While watching a rerun of Project Runway, my girlfriend suddenly sat bolt upright and said "oh my god, that's my cousin!" Turns out the manhattan fabric store the contestants shop at for 30 mins each episode is owned & operated by my GF's aunt & uncle

As such, I could probably get a pretty sweet deal on some choice material

Do you think that it would be a possibility for a future order to be made from fabric I personally provide?

(originally this was to be a PM, but I thought Jason's answer might be of interest to others)

yea totally. I'm making a sack jacket right now with supplied fabric

for most sizes 34-40/2 3.5 meters should cover it. If it's patterned material add another .5 meter.

sweet. how would it change the pricing? I figure on the one side it'd save the customer money because fabric is naturally factored into your prices, but on the otherside, there is the added cost of shipping fabric to you and then having you send it along to your guild of TaT artisans.

exactly. It does reduce the cost a bit once it's all said/done....about $50 iirc

Photo taken by GS since it's not in my hands yet. Here's my 2B suit (converted from a 3B) in charcoal. Standard 38" chest, lengthened by 1".

Bandwagonesque, it looks like your 3 roll 2 suit has darts. I thought Jason made only sack suits? And can you also post pictures when you get your suit? =].

It's not a sack suit, and it's not a 3-roll-2. It's a 3B that I requested be converted into a standard 2B. Jason is only starting to make the sack suits... they aren't even listed on the TaT website.

Photos will be up when I get it in a week or two.

I'm making an "official" sack jacket for someone right now that will be used to illustrate the new/revised style with the flapped patch pockets. Once it's done there'll be some pics of it.

My standard one, three (and now 2) button jackets aren't sacks, they are darted with waist suppression (altho even the sack has some waist supp. too) and a roped sleevehead (sack is unroped at the sleevehead)

GS, I'll be interested in seeing the sack. Sacks don't have to be, well, sacklike. Older Brooks and especially old Norman Hilton did a good deal of waist suppression with theirs. Note the waist suppression and slim fit on these "sacks":

I agree Alan and it's true, unfortunately you don't really see any slimmer cut sacks anymore. I like the clean-ness of a undarted sack jacket along with the esoteric value of its heritage to traditional American sartorialism. esp in a tweed, makes for a nice throw on jacket for cooler days since tweed jackets go so well with trousers or jeans.

Yes, I prefer the traditional 3/2 Brooks/Trad sack in sportcoats to suits, particularly tweeds. I have thrifted Brooks and Hilton tweed sportcoats that have wonderful waist suppression that are excellent just to throw on. I have some 3/2 sack suits that I do wear, but I don't prefer them. I like darts on my suits.

Why does the gent in grey have a 4B jacket? Was 4B ever the choice of trads? Of course, those drawing are pretty freakin' lanky so it doesn't look that bad.

When did the undone bottom button become the standard? All of those pics have the guys with them done up.
