I imagine that the TaT pattern just doesn't fit you that well. How did your body shape compare to Jason's? With a larger chest it's hard to pull off the TaT cut is anything other than the one button which just so happens to button around mid navel, thus letting you get away with the waist suppression somewhat. I'd take the suit to Jason and request a fix up at no further expense, the shoulders are too strong to be un-noticable. In the future, narrower shoulders, more room in the chest, a lower buttoning point and correspondingly longer jacket.

am i the only one who finds the shoulder not that bad? yeah its sticking out a bit, but not to the point it is horribly out of proportion.

infact i kind of like the look of it sticking out a bit.

I think Jason is providing an awesome service here but this is just making excuses. If Jason measured it himself, it should fit perfectly. This suit is not simply "not his style"; it does not fit his body.

I can't speak for Thick as Thieves, Jason, or Jason's cutter in any way, but I do think since his house cut and foundation is very trimly cut, and NYJ requires a different kind of fit, that might have something to do with it. On the other hand, from my experience with many MTM tailored pieces as well as from my own pattern cutting MTM clothes, posture (completely important), your stomach contents for the day, and your shirt/innershirt choices can also affect results vastly.

Here's where a 2nd fitting would have been helpful. But that's the risk you run with this kind of service. Anyway, I agree, it isn't so bad. It's really unsightly to the SF-trained eye.

^pants are the easiest part to fit.

going a little conservative with measurements is usually better than what happens if you get too aggressive with measurements... least you get some room to possily tailor in the future..

I just heard back from Jason (he was away for the holiday). He was extremely nice about the whole thing. At his request, I am going to send him the jacket so he can investigate whether it was a construction issue or if the shoulders were just cut too wide. Worst case scenario, he said he would have a new jacket made if it comes to that.

To address some of the comments above, I have a similar build/height to Jason. I think once it's all sorted, the TaT cut will actually fit me well. I'm fairly trim, but I have wide shoulders proportional to the rest of my body. Jason commented when he measured me that I have a 38 body with 41 shoulders. I have a lot of faith in Jason and I think we'll get the fit right on this. He's been great to work with overall.

I agree with you that big mistakes should not occur if Jason did the measurements (and it sounds like Jason agrees, too, since he's taking the jacket back for inspection), but you can't expect a perfect fit from MTM, no matter who does the measurements. There's a reason that bespoke tailoring requires multiple fittings to get things just right. I'll be putting in my first TaT order in the next month or two and am happy to see that the overall fit of the suits seems to have improved, judging by recent pics

Yeah I hear you -- I guess I was just throwing that comment in for guys who are thinking of ordering, to keep their expectations realistic. Everyone's body is different in so many idiosyncratic ways that it will probably take two or three iterations of a suit to get it "just right," even if you follow TaT's measurement guidelines perfectly. But the first result should be at least as good or better than a solid OTR fit, I would say.

That's just not reasonable, I'd even guess that most of the time the first result will be poorer than a solid OTR fit. On the other hand you could get lucky and end up with a great fit, but you also have to factor the possibility that your first result is a disaster into the total predicted cost.

Depends how you define a "solid" OTR fit, I suppose

Seems to me most guys are getting decent fits on their first tries if they take good measurements, judging by recent pics. Hopefully I'll get lucky. With MTM shirts, I've never had a result worse than typical OTR, but I know suits are more complicated.
