Hi everyone,

I'll be heading over to California this summer and I've decided to go on a bit of a spending spree.

Anyway I'm interested in picking up one or two nice suits while I'm over.
I've heard good things about Thick of Thieves (I really like the slim fit/retro style) on this site as I've been lurking here for a good while. Just wondering do they have a physical store in LA or is it online order only? Is it possible to get fitted anywhere over there?

While I'm at it,would anyone be able to recomend some clothes shops over there. Apart from suits,I'm looking at getting some high quality shoes to go with them, preferable black/brown leather/suade.

Also, for anyone with experience,is there a large difference between prices in the US and UK/Ireland when it comes to designer brands such as D&G,Armani,Dior etc...(that would be mostly for non-formal items: shirts,t-shirts,polos,cardigans etc...).

If there's anything else you want to throw in regarding shops I should visit in LA,please do.

Thanks in advance.

TaT has no physical store but Jason will meet up with you to take your measurements.

Don't know what you're budget is on shoes, but in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, there is both an Allen Edmonds and a John Lobb store. Duncan Quinn's store on Melrose sell Cleverely shoes. AFAIK, regarding TAT, they don't have a store that I know of but Jason will be able to meet up with you and take your measurements as well as show you some samples of the cloths available.

Depending on your budget, I would say you should check out duncan quinn on Melrose Avenue. They offer both ready-made & bespoke suits. They also have a large selection of shirts and carry Cleverley shoes. Not sure what your style is, but check out their websites:

www.duncanquinn.com
www.gjcleverley.co.uk

For shirts you could also check out Anto Shirts: www.antoshirt.com

Regarding TAT, I don't think they have a store in LA.

Thanks for all your input so far.

My budget is about 6000 euro, which works out around 8000 dollars. I'd probably like to split it 50/50 between suits/smart shoes/shirts and casual clothes though.

I was thinking maybe 4-5 TaT suits,a dior homme suit and a few pairs of shoes, nice shirts.

one thing that I suggest for TaT is you order 1 suit and see how it comes out. It's likely you'll have to make some tweaks for the next ones, find out what they are, adjust the measurments, and then order the other 3-4. It's much easier and chaper than getting 4-5 suits that all could use some minor adjustments.

And you also may want to look for something else besides Dior Homme if you're going the TaT route. IMO, my TaT suit looks very similar to Dior (in fact I was either going to buy the Dior or TaT - I opted to save $1,200 with TaT). Perhaps look for a more traditionally cut suit, like a Polo Ralph Lauren, or a suit that's somewhat similar yet still obviously different like a Black Fleece.
