She really has a terrific voice. You don't hear people sing like her very often.

    never mind
[IMG]. I can't figure out how a Jewish girl from London born in the '80s sounds like a black lady singing in the south in the '40s.

Maybe she is one of these.

Her hits (thus far) are on the front side of Back to Black, and I was surprised to find the back half of the album was equally as good as, if not better than, the front.

Bingo. I love the sixties horn section sound.

Sadly, I think this song may be a bit too autobiographical based on what I have read on the web.

She's an interesting talent, but she's not alone in the blue-eyed soul songstress genre. Nikka Costa (god-daughter to Sly Stone), Madeleine Peyroux (channeling Billie Holliday and plays jazz guitar), Joss Stone (give the devil his due; the girl can sang!) are a few.

I'm a better songstress than Miss Winehouse.

    Allison Moyet.

And to throw in two guys: Rick Astley and Green Gartside.

Oh, I forgot to mention: I quite like this album also. I really like the remix of Rehab with Jay-Z in it.

There is one track though that is a complete Marvin Gaye rip. But I can't remember which (hers or his).
