After a year of acquiring a new wardrobe of admittedly thrifted yet far superior clothing to what I wore formerly, I have learned that my employer is requiring a more "athletic" appearance. Specifically, I now have to wear a black, non-logo polo shirt or a "collared" black shirt of either short or long sleeve. Pants must be either khaki colored or black. Everyone had just gotten used to seeing me work in the suits and sport coats.

:fu:

I was following the other work clothing thread but what I need are suggestions. Suddenly, I have nothing to wear to work in the morning.
No black pants.
No black shirts.
Plenty of chinos/khakis.

I NEED a shirt pocket. I have to keep the reading glasses handy and undamaged. I already have to wear THREE lanyards so I won't be dangling the readers from a chain around my neck as well.

I'm so disgusted.

Man that's mean. What job is this? Depending on how qualified you are and how the state of the economy is in your country I'd be looking for another job.

This would be my reaction to this policy:

On the flip side, now you know what to wear in the morning. I admit it is a horrible policy. Welcome to 1992!

I would look for a new job. I wouldn't accept any job that wouldn't let me wear a suit. Is that weird?

That really sucks.

If you have to wear a black shirt, make it a polo. Black dress shirts make you look like a waiter.

Black polos will work with khakis.

I think PG went to a new company, instead of his old company changing dress code.

Well, until a few months ago, the new company didn't need a policy because they never dreamed that anyone would wear coat and tie.

Then, they saw Phat Guido's weblog during the hiring process and came up with three policies:

1. No coat and tie.

2. Women must be clothed, particularly employees.

3. No photographs of capuccino, other coffee products, or bicycles in the cubicles.
