These don't look like Loakes . . .

I think the clue is in the puff about the shoes made in Northampton. Loake are based in the area. They often produce footwear for other firms - e.g. Herring. I wouldn't be surprised if CT had a similar arrangement with them.

They look like Loake's to me. The heel pattern looks identical to the old style 1880 heel before they changed to a C shape rubber insert.

Aren't most UK-made shoes produced in Northampton, though?

Sorry, I didn't include the other part of my post. Loake, as far as I know, run one of the biggest 'franchise' operations, so I would have thought that there's a good chance it's them.

I wrote to them . . . here's their response . . . very useful information indeed ;-)

"Thank you for your email.

Please accept my apologies but we are unable to give customers information regarding the manufacturers of our products for confidential reasons. However I can inform you that all of our shoes are supplied from a Northamptonshire manufacturer that we have been using for many years now.

If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards

I'm sure this would be useful when it's time for a resole.
