Theory sizing ?

Hello guys, I am really small and thin (5.5 / 115), and I usually wear size 44(it) or W27 jeans and 36 Zara suits are too big for me. I heard Theory was really slim fitting, but there s not a retail nearby. Any chance I can actually take a size too big on paper (like 28 pants) and actually get something in my size... ? I guess their S and XS could be a nice option for knitwear and stuff anyway. Cheers

im a 36R and their suits in 36R were spot on. slim fitting and nice cut. so if you are a 44(it)/34 US you should go with that.

so for tops you should stay with XS, not S. they are slim but not a whole size down slim.

for pants you can ALWAYS get away with a size too big or too small if you dont mind the cut. a 28 shouldnt be terrible for you if you are a true 27 and just rock a belt.

my advice would be to order one and try it on or go to a retail (lots of dept stores carry theory) and try it on. im really small and skinny, but your ever worse then me haha.

Theory's retail prices are preposterous...eBay or Bluefly finds are priced a fair bit more reasonably. Their stuff runs true to size, but I doubt you'd find sz 27 pants. Your best option might be Ervell; pretty much everything he sells fits a couple sizes smaller than tagged (sz 30 trousers fit like 28; sz 40 blazers fit like 38).

My job carries Theory and yeah, their prices are insane. I actually helped a guy yesterday that was looking at Theory(he was like 6'3" lol the sleeves were comical on the jacket). Not many dept stores carry size 28 waist, or if they do it's usually one pair and it's sold out, so be advised.

I wouldn't buy it for the price either fwiw but for someone super skinny I'm not sure what price range and quality the others fall into. There are some pieces that go on sale but I'm not sure if they're deep enough of a discount to warrant a purchase.

That's the whole point really. I am perfectly aware Theory is not good value for money, but I am quite out of options.

...but it's not slim, either.

You might also check doing some proxy stuff from rakuten Japan. Many Japanese brands in a "medium" will be so skinny that you'll have trouble getting your arms through the holes.

I like Theory personally since they fit me and are often available at the outlets I frequent, I'd say they run true to size on the slim side for most designs - I'm a 36 or 38 suit and 31 waist generally and wear their smalls, 31 pants, and 38 jackets so I'd expect you would need to go with 36 suits, and XS (good luck!), and smallest waist you can find. There was just a good sale on one of the online retailers like Rue La La for Theory too - suits were like $300 and jackets $100-150.

Look for Thom Browne if you like their style - I'm like a size 2 out of 4 they run so tiny.

I'm sure the suggestion for asian clothes is true too, I was in Asia last year and at 5'7" 135lbs I was on the bigger side of average!

For a guy who's 6'2 200lbs, these suits fit fantastic. I have a larger upper body, so the slim effect is great. The price makes me want to jump out of a moving car, so I just waited til I found a cheap one ($60) on eBay, can't beat it. Different from you smaller folks, but another perspective.

My experience with Theory has been ****.
I bought a suit cause it fit me pretty great off the rack, but the quality was lacking (hanging threads, puckered seams, not even half canvas...pure ****)

Its a small step above H&M...with the price of Ralph Lauren Rugby...not worth it.
