Theme problem with XP

Something's up with my grandparents' OS. I first thought it was just a W98 theme of something, but the only option in display properties is "Windows Classic style." Where is the option for XP? Can this be fixed with a registry edit or something?

I'll add a screenshot in a minute.

Try:

Right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Adjust for Best Appearance.

Personally I always use the "Adjust fort best performance" which disables the themes and keeps things clean, simple and speedy.

No luck on that, but thanks for the attempt.

That actually happened to me earlier and I use Vista.

I wish SF was always that minimalist. Oh, well.

Did you try turning it off and on?

I assume you're talking about the default XP theme (the one with the green Start button and blue task bar). Here's the instructions on how to get it back: http://swatrant.blogspot.com/2005/09...e-missing.html I always use the "old" XP theme just because it seems to give better performance. But then again, I mainly use OS X for all my computing needs. XP is just for games.

Thanks, I was able to change the theme with the methods in that link.

However, Firefox still isn't displaying images and whatnot. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Could be a Firefox issue. Check out the settings. There should be a tab called "Content", make sure the setting "Load images automatically" is checked. Otherwise, I would just reinstall Firefox.

It almost looks like a caching problem. I'd still suggest clearing the cache anyway. Tools >> Clear Private Data... or Ctrl+Shift+Del. You can uncheck everything except the cache.
