I agree people with unnatural poses should be mocked

I’m enjoying the more laid back vibe that’s settled over this thread like a fine mist these past few years. I like that a mild, possibly facetious comment is cause for concern. When I joined, people were vicious. We lost many to anger, more to hurt feelings, and most were torn to shreds in the crosswind. Those who persevered emerged from the cauldron a better dresser, though at some personal cost. There was no yelling at clouds — we were the clouds.

My first post on Sf 10 years ago I was showing off these new monkstraps I was excited about, but they had these huge buckles. There were two pages of leprechaun pictures. SF used to be brutal, mostly just pointless meanness, but I can think of a few times I got slammed and in the end I was more self aware for having heard some tough criticism.

I usually love the subtle comfort of your fits, but my very small criticism of this one is that the stark black of the bottom half seems bit too much of a contrast with warm tones of the top half. But you know, small things...

Thanks for the feedback, I know what you mean. Some lighter footwear would have broken it up a little better.

My first atttempt at a fit pic here, the really nasty responses, and my attempt to laugh it off, were all so embarrassing they ended up on the shortlived '**** Yeah, Styleforum' site...

...and yet, for some reason, I am still here.

Thank you! And of course, critique away!

As I already said, I like the pieces individually. As an overall silhouette, however, you have a sort of reverse triangle silhouette going on. That might be personal preference, but because you've got the fairly wide trousers paired with quite a slim fitting top half, the outfit has the appearance of narrowing towards the top. In general, I'd lean towards a slightly wider fitting top half with slightly narrower trousers (or tapered trousers) for a more 'classic' silhouette. Huge fan of wide trousers, but they tend to look best with a heavier upper half for balance-sake
