Think a little extra length on the jeans would help as well. Top half also looks a bit constricted? Don't need to tuck in your shirt but would be interested to see how jacket fits over just the sweater or just the shirt. Understand it might be too cold outside for that though
Wouldn't say the guys look doesn't work for you, but think the no break/slightly shorter length looks better with loafers than it does with sneakers.

This works because his pants and shirt fit him perfectly, like most other basic Shirt + Pants looks.You're right. So why try.
