You’re correct... at least from the knee down.
Even though trends are shifting towards wide pants (so everyone will recommend wider pants all the time now), I think the ones you have on work fine here, and look good with the shoes. I don't feel like the top and bottom half are unbalanced.
Do you think different shoes next time or do they work with the jacket?
I like the ring closure of the shoes. Is the sole an espadrille roped sole? Can't tell from the photo.
If it is a roped sole, and you wanted to nitpick, then the summery feel of that sole would be a little out of place with the heavier visual of the waxed (faux-waxed?) barbour-looking jacket. But honestly I think it looks good as-is and wouldn't overthink it.
