Still on the fence about keeping the jacket.

I'm not feeling the fit seems too loose and the placket looks off

It’s a cool jacket, but from what I’ve seen of your wardrobe I don’t see it slotting in very well.

I have no idea what your budget is but if you look a few posts up at what Shouts out for my Bo and Leisure Wear are wearing, that could be a good direction. Happily for you a looser, less structured fit is in right now. I have those Orslow New Yorker pants, (elastic waist, tie, but tapered so they don't look like clown pants) really comfortable if a bit costly at retail. But I'm sure Uniqlo has a cheaper version. You could pair that with basically any top from Engineered Garments -- the last few season have been on the looser side, for balance. You could still get a skate/surf vibe (Daiki Suzuki, the EG founder, is a surfer and he basically wears jeans/fatigue pants and T shirts most of the time.

You should also look at fatigue pants -- Stan Ray makes a lower budget version of luxe ones from Orslow or EG.

Overall, what I'd say is look for better fabrics/fit/construction. No need to change your look too much. Have a look at the Engineered Garments threads here for inspiration and maybe try to find some second hand.

Thanks for the ideas. When I was a teenager was when my really casual wear aesthetic came around, largely influenced by the guys I grew up with, but also by some popular cultural figures, like Eazy E, seen here wearing Ben Davis:

That's a look I still rock:

I like your suggestion of fatigue pants. And the EG stuff is nice, and looks like I can thrift it at places like eBay and Poshmark.

I think the jacket will be fine so long as you commit to wearing the hell out of it for a while. I think half of the stiff, awkward looking fit is just the really new leather. Wear it around the house. Wear it to do yard work. Wear it into fitting!

(My advice may or may not be, in any way, shape, or form, good.)

I agree! I find most new leather fits look like a guy at the mall playing Sons of Anarchy.

Sorry Newc, not a fan. I don't think it's either your fit or your vibe. I'm not sure that wearing it often will help, since the issues I'm seeing are more structural fit and style rather than "drape" or being broken in
