Here is an open letter:

"When pretty much everyone, of every stripe, finds you offensive and unbearable, it's probably you. I know that you say that you "Give your opinion" and "Don't sugarcoat things" and subscribe to other "real man" cliches, but those cliches are inaccurate. That type of guy generally doesn''t get into people's faces, because there is enough crap to deal with without looking for it. If they don't agree with someone's opinion, they say something respectful but clearly indicates that they don't agree with the position, but also that there is not any more conversation to be had, like "Yeah, well, lotta opinions in this world" and walk away from the fight. It's not worth it.

So, after your timeout, if you decide to come back, try acting that way.
