it's missing the line that connects heattech + parka + beater boots -> success! because when it is cold as balls outside, fashunz can wait.

@The3rdConch0rd +1 for the CP derby shine or you could opt for the burberry prorsum ones.

I usually find the ideas pop into my head, but I have to get in front of the mirror and see it. Without fail, I always start with more and end up with less. But yeah, I need to edit in front of the mirror.

Like with any type of creative endeavor (and clothing is a creative outlet for me) you should let yourself fantasize and be inspired, but make sure you hone that editor voice as well, it's just as important. This thread is great for that.

Always love the backgrounds in your pics, NN. Your outfits are nice, too.

That's a pretty non-touristy place to go. You should be careful of the Chunyun, probably chose the worst time to go to China.

Cool. It's interesting to get a window into someone's routine.

The reason I ask is because your fits seem like concepts, complete with logical points about why they should work. It's not surprising that you take notes on your phone.

I usually just use a mirror. I've gotten pretty good at knowing what goes with what, but when I was more of a novice and had a smaller wardrobe I remember trying on every pair of shoes I had with outfits to make sure I had the right pair.

I wonder if you shouldn't try abandoning the notes for a week and using the mirror more. You are not using shapes and proportions well, and you certainly aren't framing your body in the most attractive way.

You have some limiting characteristics in terms of the canvas you're working with: Red hair, fair skin, lots of body hair, a tall bony frame... None of these things are a big deal, unless you ignore them. You are designing concepts in your head that work on models. You expect them to work the same way on you, and when they don't you don't seem to recognize it and are at a loss to figure out why things went wrong. It feels like your process is backwards. You really need to learn what colors and shapes work with your body type and start using those restrictions as cornerstones for your outfits. You should be able to look in the mirror and know that this shape makes you look skinny, that color makes you look pale, that shirt shows too much chest hair, etc.

By the way, I've never seen a man wearing a tee and a heavy scarf that looked good. I challenge you to find a single example on the whole of the internet. This is what I mean by punching above your weight, stylistically. You're trying to do things that are incredibly difficult.

    Just some ideas.
