I dislike the sweatpants a lot, but putting that aside, if you want to do this look you should swap out the t-shirt for a looser fit.

Sure, you could do oversized all over, but I think contrasting is more interesting / dynamic and generally more flattering to me.

I’m surprised you guys seem to be so allergic to that concept. Complementing loose with tight and vice-versa is a solid aesthetic principle.

What do you like about these sweatpants?

Love the cut. The dropped crotch combined with wide legs is weirdly flattering and elegant. I like that instead of elastic hems that taper at the ankle, the bottoms are wide and straight cut, lending to a dramatic stacking effect.

The fabric is a really nice, heavy boiled wool. Beyond the refined feel and texture, the material allows the pants to maintain some structure while also draping really nicely. The folds and waves in the fabric are big and soft. It is obvious these are not actual sweatpants but rather sweatpant-inspired pants.

So we had a lil bro in skinny jeans and oversized tee, and now we have a lil bro in oversized sweatpants and skinny tee. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, again, I don’t know why this concept finds so much hostility here. Seems pretty basic to me.

Thanks—assuming not messing with me :)

I’m curious to learn how folks process this.

You look good to me, but I’m not sure I get any reading on style. Seems like a very strong “regular dude” outfit, but is it aesthetically noteworthy? Genuine inquiry.

I will certainly say: the denim jacket fits you really nicely. Combined with the slim (skinny even?) pants, you manage to cut a very classically pleasing male silhouette that goes way beyond how an actual “regular dude” would do it.

It’s exactly because I find it basic that there is nothing to discuss, and even if it’s expensive clothing, it doesn’t change the fact it still looks very basic.
And I am sorry (got nothing against you) but in both case, I don’t think it looks flattering on you. More balanced outfits would look better.

Yes you’re right that balancing a loose/fitted things can be good, but this isn’t. The shirt is too small for this.
At the end of the day you’re wearing an ill fitting white tee and some grey sweats. There’s nothing interesting about any of it and it’s not flattering, and it’s not cool, so there doesn’t look like there is anything deliberate about it to save anything.
I understand what you’re saying about balancing loose and fitted/slim but there is zero balance in this fit.
Get that half sleeve FoG tee you have and tuck it in to the sweats and maybe roll the sleeves and it would at least look intentional and maybe work.
