Happy anniversary to you!

Okay, is this what everyone considers a good look here?
I would say its solid but not great. Wider cut pants and different foot wear (biggest weakness) would be better.

Not the best pic either. It looked cooler when I put it together in the mirror

That being said the proportions aren't bad and if anything make me look tall and lean (I am, alas, neither haha).

stop converging on the same hyper-specific micro-culture norms
you're in a forum for clothes, men's fashion is itself derivative and insignificant when you consider the scale of women's fashion in comparison. So you're already at the convergence of a tiny culture here by definition, and only the designer/aesthetic-specific threads do so even further.

You're neither the first nor the last to bring a combative attitude (albeit a lot of the pile on is no doubt due to the reputation that follows you) rather than accept you've posted pretty bad fits and look to improve if you take a filtered approach to the suggestions here.

Okay, is this what everyone considers a good look here?
this is what everyone here considers a Bene fit

It just seems ridiculous to think my fit is so ridiculously bad as to warrant this sort of ranting diatribe.

Let’s be honest: most of the fits here amount to nothing more than a “fun” collared shirt and five-pocket pants with whatever silhouette happens to be on trend (which everyone claims they always preferred). If the clothes look thrifted and/or the background has beaten-up wood floors and worn-out mid-century furniture, plus the poster is a “creative”: 20 likes!
It's not. Honestly bro, a lot of people just don't like you.

Not a lawyer.

You guys love to imagine all sorts of sh!t about a person and then judge his clothes for it.

Arent you a lawyer who pivoted into banking?

Man, I never post on here anymore. I dress like **** these days though. Kind of a "fat Slavic pimp takes his kids to soccer practice meets lazy health goth" vibe.

This place is on life support , carried by @WBaker . Most of the other fits have been atrocious, but I’m biased toward the early days of my activity here.

You could play to your proportions but instead choose to ignore reality, and so your fit made me think of a t rex wearing shades.

You don’t exist in a vacuum, the interplay between your environment and outfits isn’t invalid to criticize. It’s just like the ninjas who posted their skin tight Julius but then went to their tech bro jobs, or the LA lawyer who liked to wear Harden suits even to meet clients…on the other hand M-M from SZ was a a great example of synergy between unimpeachable style and local architecture.

I still don’t like your miami blue porsche because I imagine an overweight twice bankrupt white guy with a sun burn who now has 8 figures driving that color, not you with the seat pulled all the way forward

Dismissing athleisure as an entire genre is silly. Some really cool stuff has come out of it. Like FoG. But seems to me that the forum is irrationally dismissive of a lot of things—which brings me to my next point.

If it’s not a revelation that this place is a bubble, you’d think folks would seek more self-awareness and stop converging on the same hyper-specific micro-culture norms.

About 3 people post in this thread with any regularity. You're just randomly proclaiming people to be not self aware as if that has any bearing on discussion about clothes.

I just like clothes and like to talk about clothes. I do not care whether people are self aware or are interested in whatever microtrend you see in NYC.

Me saying athleisure is junk is a personal opinion. It is not dismissive. It is taste. I don't even consider FoG (mainline) to be athleisure anyway, it's not what I think of when I think about athleisure.

You can see me actually posting about FoG mainline in the other threads. Probably before you or other "NYC dads" became interested in it, so no, myself and many others are not ignorant of whatever else is going on in the world. Hell, 10 years ago we were talking about Umit Benan and other guys who were doing the FoG thing well before FoG even became a thing. Again, not that it has any bearing on simply talking about clothes.

Okay, is this supposed to be “good”?

You are obviously not short or fat, but the cut / proportions of the top and bottom push you in that direction. I know: I look short. But I am short. Also, I really cannot see how one can think my last fit makes me look wider / stockier without thinking yours is much worse in that regard. It’s not like I’m any thinner than you.

To be more specifically constructive:

1. The shirt is too tight. You can see it bunching around the shoulder and chest. Combined with what is likely a too-short front balance, this makes your gut show more than it needs to. The worst is in the photo of you walking toward the camera. It could also stand to be a bit longer—would mitigate impression that it’s a size too small on your frame.

2. There is too much width everywhere. I get that oversized is on purpose, but the fit lacks either the impression of movement / flow or a change-up in volumes to make it interesting and successful. For example, the shirt does not have a pleasing drape (see above: could be fit to blame, but also the fabric). The sleeves appear to rigidly stick out to the sides, rather than flow downward with your arms. The pants aren’t as bad in this respect, but the fabric doesn’t flow / drape as nicely as one would want. See your walking photo. The pants chunk into two rigid, blocky segments above and below your knees. That’s not good. You should see more vertical draping and a smoother, more streamlined silhouette. Fabric and make (not cut) are likely to blame.

3. If we’re going to judge against context: the whole look is too shabby and grubby relative to your surroundings. It appears as if you rolled out of bed wearing this from the day before. The poor fit and drape of the top is a main culprit. But also: the sh!t brown color of the pants. There are sophisticated / urban ways to do an earthy tone. This is farmer.

Assuming I were stuck with these clothes, I’d attempt a fix by tucking in the shirt and letting it billow as much as it will (though it may be too tight for this). Would hopefully restore your waist and make your stomach less prominent, while making the fit’s play on volume more dynamic.
