It just seems ridiculous to think my fit is so ridiculously bad as to warrant this sort of ranting diatribe.

Let’s be honest: most of the fits here amount to nothing more than a “fun” collared shirt and five-pocket pants with whatever silhouette happens to be on trend (which everyone claims they always preferred). If the clothes look thrifted and/or the background has beaten-up wood floors and worn-out mid-century furniture, plus the poster is a “creative”: 20 likes!

it's not so much about the fit but moreso about how you're reacting at this point :)

until we meet again!

I’ll just say that other than brand-specific threads there’s a lot of gatekeeping in this forum.

I think the fit in question looked fine. Flaunting wealth is not cool (car stuff) but who cares.

“Fun” collared shirt and 5-pocket pants is literally everything you’ve posted until this one, where you swapped the “fun” shirt for a tshirt that is the worst possible cut for your body type.
For the record I love modern day FoG when it’s not just oversized tees and sweats which is all just lazy “the dumb kids will buy this” type of stuff

I barely ever post anything. Moreover, I’m not claiming to be some sort of groundbreaking aesthete.

My point is there is a lot of “inside the club” circle jerking here. You guys cheer on a lot of mediocre / unremarkable stuff based on “vibes” and whether you approve of the poster’s perceived lifestyle. When it suits, outfits are attacked for being off trend or unusual. But when accepted insiders post outfits that are off trend or unusual, they are lauded for the very same divergences.

@nevergreen had been described by others as wearing workwear-based clothing. A lot of what I see here looks to be in similar vein.

I only raise what I observe in NYC to give context for my own perspective and because others have challenged how normal vs. unusual my outfit is.

Compared to other U.S. cities, I do think folks in NYC dress differently. One of the main differences is that “older” men in their 30’s through 50’s here continue to dress in designer clothing and follow fashion trends. I.e., dads look less obviously like dads. Plus, because of the wealth levels, folks can buy more of this stuff more often.

Hmmm, IMO Nevergreen is not wearing workwear. He's doing modern prep.. Which is kinda the dominant current aesthetic.

I didn’t call it workwear. Others did. He was wearing Clarks and what looked like workwear-type pants.

Regardless of what one calls anything, I do think maybe it is worth reflecting on whether this place has become its own sort of bubble / echo chamber. Many of the fits I see have the same, very specific “vibe”. Call it: vaguely workwear, bohemian, thrift-shop, eccentric.

Just comparing to what I see in NYC, on the streets, this thread is far less luxe / urban / streetwear / athleisure oriented.

I dunno I barely post here anymore and I can’t remember the last time I thumbed anything, let alone gave any kind of positive feedback.

But yes, it is 100% an echo chamber (that’s how we end up with so many people who think GATs are actually attractive - they are not, they ******* suck) and there are a lot of members who n ow each other and are friends in real life so they’ll obviously be more positive towards each other in that respect.

Athleisure is junk.

This is, almost by definition, a bubble. I'm not sure if you think that's a revelation or anything.

Most of us do go outside sometimes. Even at times when we're not taking photos of ourselves for uncles on the internet.
