@idlerich I've been reading all of your posts and fits as if you're a member of Oasis in the 90s, and I have to say, it's awesome

I've been wrestling with myself on this cos it really is such a lovely comment... however, I feel that honesty compels me to say that, if there is one band I really do not like (and trust me, there are in fact many) it's Oasis. Of course, I don't believe that detracts at all from the comment or anything, but I do feel it behoves me to tell the truth here.

Further disappointment perhaps, while my Dad and his whole family are from Manchester, I grew up down south and I'm afraid I don't even have that accent...

Thing is, I guess I could quite easily link to some radio show or something where you can hear my speaking voice...which is literally the opposite of Oasis. Visualising @troika hearing it... all I can see is disappointment.

In fact, I dunno if you guys have ever had that experience where you know someone as an internet person (eg on the same forum maybe) and then you meet the actual person. For me it's quite fascinating cos you almost certainly had an idea of how the person would be, but of course in the flesh they are totally different... or at least they are at first, but then if you spend time with them you see more and more links between the internet version and reality, and then, bit by bit they coalesce, slowly kinda superimposing themselves on each other until eventually they are indistinguishable and you wondered how you ever saw them as different.

I suppose I'm describing the idealised version of such a meeting, there is an alternative version where they don't coalesce at all and the non-internet version is a terrifying gangster from Eastern Europe or whatever but for the moment let's pretend that doesn't happen....

Having met a bunch of styleforum users for the years, I'm happy to share with you that everyone here is a dweeb and sounds like Comic Book Guy irl

I am glad to hear that... not that everyone sounds like Comic Book Guy, I mean I'm glad to hear that you lot meet up. I have met up with people from other forums (fora?) and it's really been a wonderful thing to do.

Growing up in the middle of nowhere I knew literally no-one who had the same interests as me, no-one at all; fair enough, a few years later when I went to university I did meet a small number of people whose interests overlapped with mine which was a big thing at the time.... but a few years later I discovered internet forums and a whole world of people who cared about the stuff I cared about! Just knowing they were out there really blew my mind and changed my life - and then, meeting up with them!

Seriously, looking back over the last twenty odd years - thank **** for the internet and the friends I've made through it.

OK then, in that case here goes, this radio show provides three things (if anyone actually listens of course) - firstly some great self-promotion, secondly you can hear my voice (a lot cos the actual presenter was so boring she said nothing) and thirdly - as it concentrates on old electronic records from around the world - it demonstrates that my music taste is pretty far from Oasis....

Damn... power cut! Thought they were a thong of the past until I moved to Portugal but it's the second in two months...
