1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Good lord, this thread is more of a shit show right now than the PNW roads (we've just got almost a foot of snow here for the first time in like 5 years)

But srs question: is the Lolita scene/movement similar/the same as the "Doll" movement? My gf and I watched a bunch of these videos on youtube, truly fascinating subculture

It is a culture predicated on the fetishization of a time that never existed as such, bringing out its cutesy elements entirely separated of the oppressive social context that allowed the aristocracy of that time to wander around Versailles gardens playing little games and wearing elaborate frilly dresses. As Kundera aptly said kitsch is the negation of shit, here, metaphorically the symbolically and physically violent social order and concretely the actual scatological regime of dirtiness of the denizens of Versailles, happily shitting and pissing in random corners of the domain and hiding the foul odour of their unwashed bodies with heavy perfume.

When you take a partial object and project into it impulses and desires that should belong to the whole you are engaging in fetishism, it can be a woman's legs or a time period's dresses and tea time traditions.

... and that invalidates what he said how?

And I just want to qualify Fuuma's post that fetishization of victorian sensibilities isn't an open invite to sexual fetishization of the style itself, before anyone jumps to that conclusion.

Debating what I should do with these anatomical seam chino/jean things. Return/keep or hem/leave as is. They're super comfy though (cotton/cashmere).

IMO they're probably one of your better fitting pants. Definitely keep. I don't think a hem is needed, but that's just preference.

Love the feel and color of the pants but fit is not good on me, returning... if anyone got recs for flat front trousers in similar color and fabric (moleskin), drop me a PM. I need high rise but not drop crotch...
