1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Styleforum hasn't changed my style all that much. My tastes have gotten more expensive but I was into clothes before I came here. I still wear several things that date back to the 80's (or 60's in the case of sweaters I inherited from my dad.)

I felt kinda bad for Isachenko because of that (even when he might have deserved mean remarks).

@Nouveau Pauvre: I ain't laid eyes on an Express store in a delightfully long time. But I think I understand what you're seeing. Casey's fit is like that because they are similarly conceived styles. But this fit does it right, whereas if it was Express, he'd have like a red dress shirt on and a bunch of "contrast" everything (soles, shoe laces, jacket pocket edging) (probably. i'm making up what i understand express to be like.)

@in stitches basically, yeah, a person could get mad about this. if you get way into the SW&D side and think you understand what makes this place work and then a fit comes along you totally dislike and it gets a lot of praise, you might be pissed off that the forum isn't how you thought it was, that what you thought you understood has either changed or is not in line with you. i'm not speaking for anyone, but i'm saying the scenario you lay out is possible.

Ha, I was just being a jerk. I'm sure you could say the same thing about my fit too.

In terms of productive criticism I think it's partially the :foo: problem - everything fitting slim and "oh-so-well" doesn't really suit a lot of outfits and body types, really most body types I'd guess. It often comes off as fussy.

well yes, but i was talking about fits.

i have been into clothing since i was 12. but when i look back on it i sucked. i was really into structure and hilfiger in my early teens.

clearly its possible lol, im just saying i dont understand it. even as you lay it out, i could see that that could lead to frustration that you thought you understood something and then you realize maybe you dont. but i dont see why that should make a reasonable person upset with anyone else.

    I certainly hope not
And I feel like this whole conversation was blown way out of proportions, more people should post fits instead [IMG]

Hey - Cardigan is by Barena. Parker posted a (better) fit a few days ago with the same one. Interesting to see how it can fit into a different style.

so anything you like is a good fit and anything you don't like is a bad fit right?

there is no such thing as truly altruistic thumbing. this is a known fact of nature.

@brad-t fwiw, I think your "before" style was pretty cool. Not my cup of tea, but nonetheless interesting stuff.

stitches, I´d be interested in seeing your MC evolution. You always look pretty sharp, despite some odd color combinations or some minor details.

same here. maybe gettting more specific about certain stuff, replacing things I've always liked with more unique versions. I'd have to say my shopping habits have changed the most since I've been on SF. not only pricier but more esoteric things. whereas I used to read a few fashion mags and browse my local shops, now thanks to a lot of the posters here, I can see lookbooks from small unknown (to me) brands and browse stores from all over the world.
