1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Try standing up straight and take pictures with less backlight. It's pretty difficult to see what's gong on there.

I would if i could. i'm leaning so i fit in the frame of the mirror and trying to block some of the backlighting, it's the only mirror in the house. If I take the pic during daylight it's backlit, if I take it at night I'm basically invisible. I don't own a camera or a tripod. Got any suggestions?

self-timer app + makeshift tripod outside?

the "blue shoes" suggestion is a joke that jabo is referencing from recent purchases or random fashion thoughts, can't remember which

I think a lot of your outfits would benefit from jeans or pants with a slightly fuller cut. I recall you being a fairly muscular guy, so the slim, heavily tapered jeans you usually roll with accentuate this in an unflattering way. Here, it's probably the tuck that's causing this effect, but it's really prominent with your John Elliot pair. The jeans may technically fit, but the proportions with your upper body are thrown out of whack in a way that holds back a lot of your outfits from being really good.

Those jeans are fine, cyc just needs to let them fall on the tops of the shoes (slightly covering the tongue but getting caught at the top of the velcro straps) and stand in a more relaxed way and it would look great

Nil, I think you look better without the facial hair.

Also, with regards to your new camera - try a faster shutter speed and larger aperture. If you are using a kit lens, it would be something like F3.5 or F4.5 depending on where you are in the zoom range. Keep shutter speed at least 2x the focal length. So, if you are at 50mm, set your shutter speed to 1/100 or faster (1/160, 1/200, etc.). This should eliminate the slightly soft and not-cripsy quality of the photos.
