1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I've seen some examples where they look good, usually with something layered under them, but yeah, the few times I've tried one on myself, I've been all, "lol nope."

Henleys were so named because this particular style of shirt was the traditional uniform of rowers in the English town of Henley-on-Thames. Some crews still use this style as part of their uniform.

Originally quite popular in the early 1970s, henley shirts have recently made a fashion comeback, especially in Western countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Australia, but also in some East Asian Countries such as Japan and Korea.

In his biography of Ralph Lauren, the journalist Michael Gross quotes a New York merchant who recalled showing a vintage shirt to a Ralph Lauren buyer: "I showed this fellow underwear---a three-button long-sleeve shirt by Johnstown Knitting Mills. He said, 'This is a new shirt.' That's where he got the idea for the Henley shirt."

Shirt is not working for me, too loose and too much like something the kids in orchestra in HS would wear for concerts

    Looks good to me.
I'm not super into the Nikes but you're in high school anyway right?
I'd rather see you wear those than like, Clark's dbs. Wallys would be cool though.
Supergas or Spring Courts or even just Vans would be cool too

I do also like navy on black, if I'm seeing that correctly.

I see references to the SF of 2010, 2009, before, whenever, all the time. Having joined in late 2011 I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but from all these comments I've pieced together an image of a blasted hellscape of Nudies, APCs, GATs, purple AA hoodies, Red Wings, Lane/Uncontrol meetups, a chinstrapped Bows, a Mikey obsessed with his next outerwear purchase, and a Miran left free to roam across the churning, primordial, sulfuric sea of Styleforum. It's horrifying yet somehow comforting, not unlike the realization that you are but one lonely and isolated consciousness in a vast and and meaningless cosmic landscape already eons old, sure to exist for eons further, your life a weak flash of light lost in the infinite darkness.

I knew someone would bring this up. It's not the same. Layering a fabric skirt over pants serves no function but it's also completely forthright about it. Buttons are functional items, and a henley is designed in a way which implies functionality but doesn't actually offer any. It's more like fake pockets.

Some people have big heads and can't fit through a crew neck, but still want the appearance of a crew neck, player. Don't hate.

Yeah, really like them. Gonna take them into the tailor tomorrow along with my cloak jeans, which are falling apart.

Interesting info (no sarcasm) Moo, thanks.

Yeah, I see what you guys mean, buttons on buttons. Henleys probably best worn with buttons open and on their own. I always thought 'Henley' wasn't just about the buttons on a crew/V neck but also a sort of placket or reinforcement behind it, sort of like a polo without the collar, and usually on a crew-neck. I looked at this as a more interesting V-neck tshirt and didn't know the henley workwear associations so will mix it with more rugged stuff or just toss at summer's end and replace with plain slutty v's.
