It's impossible to ignore or not comment on the necklace/v-neck thing you've decided to make the centerpiece of your aesthetic. I hate it a lot.
The rest of the fit looks good, although the shoes look lighter than the pants. Are they navy or something? I think maybe they are dark and just reflecting light more. My opinion is that shoes usually look best when they are as dark or darker or a lot lighter than the pants. When they are barely lighter in color than the pants it looks bad. Just an observation I've made. Overall it looks pretty nice, minus my inital complaint.
Just trying to help him. I'm not allowed to dislike an outfit now?
Sure you are, but you've made it clear through your postings on the other side of the fence that most of the looks found here aren't your cup of tea. So why bother vocalizing that you dislike it when that much is already assumed? Your original comment was snide without offering any details or constructive criticism on how you would have improved it. So really, why bother other than to instigate?
FWIW, I don't really care for the fit, either, even though I'm usually a big fan of his other offerings in this thread, so this isn't a simple case of me "calling you out" on the basis that he's a SW&D guy and you're an MC guy whose posts make you seem like a real putz.
it's not exactly the centrepiece of my aesthetic, and i haven't really decided to do it it's just something i do. Do you think crew necks would be better? It's just a necklace and i can't see how that's offensive.
Pants are purple, shoes are green. Just added a detail pic for ya.
I've noticed the same thing about shoe contrast and i agree.
To me they look marsupialed and affected, but I'm trying to approach this with as much open-mindedness as possible.
Oh the irony..
I'm only basing my comments on your last couple of fits, which I've commented on. The necklace and tee combo is the common thread and certainly the first thing anyone is going to notice in this fit. It's something distinctive and unusual and right in the center of the image, so the eye is always going to go straight to it. It's kind of like cleavage on a woman. Whether it's a conscious decision or not, that is what you are leading with. "Look at my necklace." I've seen fits where the v-neck/necklace combo looks good and fits in more smoothly, but those fits usually involve badass jeans, leather, boots, confidence, or all of the above. It seems like you are throwing a lot of things together and trying to make them work right now and maybe you should start scaling back a little.
This is a very interesting sentence.
it's kinda weird that you wore an ocbd with a rick tank
The main problem is that while I can see the look you're going for, you're pairing vintage stuff with rick with gitman and everything is clashing together. Also, try athletic socks next time.
